Xi, also China’s president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the statement at a two-day central conference on political and legal work, which concluded on Wednesday.
Xi stressed that the CPC's absolute leadership over national security work must be upheld and the Party should exercise a stronger leading role and more effective coordination in this respect.
Xi noted that the Chinese side would always regard the EU as an important force for stability and development of the international structure. He advocated the two sides stick to the right path of the comprehensive strategic partnership, advance dialogue and cooperation in various areas, tap the potential for economic cooperation, explore new fields and modes for dialogue between the two civilizations, and enhance mutual understanding to lay a solid foundation for the partnership.
Xi made the comments while he visited Zhangjiakou, the co-host with Beijing of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Xi has invited him to attend the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, Hebei province.
Xi said he believes that under the firm leadership of the WPK Central Committee headed by Kim, the WPK and the DPRK people will make persistent efforts and work hard to continuously push forward the progress of the DPRK's socialist cause, and greet the Eighth Congress of the WPK with victory.
