Xi was re-elected Party chief at the 19th CPC National Congress in Beijing in October. Immediately after that, he visited the memorial hall, with the six other members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, on Oct 31st.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the symposium held on July 17 and delivered an important speech emphasizing that the country must capitalize on the advantages of the system of CPC-led multiparty cooperation and political consultation.
Xi, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, said well-educated personnel, good theories and advanced technologies are essential to building a top-class military.
Xi said China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors of sincerity and mutual trust as well as comprehensive strategic partners of win-win cooperation.
Xi said, "we will unswervingly adhere to the policy of 'one country, two systems' and support Hong Kong and Macao to integrate their development into the development of the country, to cultivate new advantages, play a new role, realize new development and make new contribution."
Xi expressed optimism in the Chinese economy, as the country works toward its two centenary goals. He said China will make great efforts to move its economic development from high speed to high quality.

Xi's remarks in the meeting with Lam already have evoked positive responses in Hong Kong.
Xi said that China and Myanmar should deepen pragmatic cooperation and push forward smooth implementation of key cooperation projects and cooperation on economic corridor plans, infrastructure and economic cooperation zones.
Xi's remark came as he met in Beijing with Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is on a state visit to China.
Xi arrived in Rome on Thursday, at the invitation of Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
