Like any big city, Seattle has traffic issues. About 65 percent of the city is zoned for single family residences. The city is largely built out with few empty lots available for new single-family homes. If you combine that fact with the huge tracts of the city that are reserved for light industrial space, there isn’t enough room for the downtown to grow. Denser cities are greener cities, and to get people out of cars and walking and biking means the zoning in SODO must change. Some people will argue that SODO should retain its original zoning to protect light industrial uses. Anyone who drives through this area knows that in addition to light industrial users there are also businesses like strip clubs, national donut chains and carpet warehouses that populate the area now. These are not what will drive economic development in the city going forward. As I said, there are light industrial uses that should be accommodated in city planning and new infrastructure should be part of any plan to rezone the areas. Many businesses are moving out of SODO anyway since their workers can’t afford to live in the city. The Amazon warehouse is in the city of Kent and not SODO for a very good reason.
Li reiterated China's support for the European integration process. As a comprehensive strategic partner of the European Union (EU), China is ready to see a solidary, prosperous and stable Europe as it will be conducive to the world multipolarization and economic globalization, Li told German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
Li's comments came during a panel discussion on Consumption: Upgrading or Downgrading, during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2019 in South China's Hainan province.
Like the night before in Florida, Trump seemed healthy, and his rhetoric on the pandemic-including the dubious claim that it was mostly a thing of the past-changed little despite his own illness, except for his threat to kiss audience members to prove his immunity.
Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting of the national leading group on science and technology, which he heads.

Li, 63, has devoted more than a decade of his life to the 2 hectares of macadamias he grows in Mengzhi village in Yunnan province. The village is among the largest production areas for macadamias in China thanks to locals who brought Australian seedlings there more than 20 years ago.
Like many other villages in Kangxian county, Zhongjie sits deep in the mountains and used to be cut off from the outside world due to a lack of roads, while public facilities were almost nonexistent. Most villagers lived in mud houses until 2008, and it was not until 2011 that the first cement road in the village was built, He said.
Liang Hong, chief economist with China International Capital Corp Ltd, said valuations of blue chip stocks have taken a beating. In addition, the sharp drop in the market last week appears to reflect emotional panic.
Li noted the change has offered new growth momentum for Tianjin in developing high-tech industries led by AI after years of sluggish growth that was overly dependent on heavy industry. The imbalance has also led to serious pollution, including heavy smog in winter.
