The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday reported a seven-day moving average of 202,021 new COVID-19 cases, the first time it has surpassed 200,000 since the outbreak. Total cases in the United States have topped 15 million.
The US had 84,000 new coronavirus cases on Monday. It was 73,594 on Sunday. On Friday, the US set an all-time record high of 99,321 cases — the highest single-day figure in the world — according to Johns Hopkins University.
The United States remains the nation hit the worst by the pandemic, with the world's highest caseload and death toll, accounting for more than 18 percent of global deaths.
